Hi my name is Jack Turgeon and I am from a town just south of Boston named Scituate. Over my christmas break my fun media expereince was using a 2-bar advertisemnt that Swiffer was running in People magazine. I took a picture of it on my Blackberry Curve, then it brought me to Youtube, and played a video advertisemnt. I thought this idea was very innovative, i didn't need to buy the product, but i still appreciate the companies efforts. This picture to the right is what the bar code looks like. It was pretty small in the right hand corner of the magazine page, but they didn't really explain what it was. I only knew about from taking marketing 110. I think that this method is the future of advertising.
One thing I appreciate about social media is how well i can keep in touch with people. Facebook is my favorite form of social media because it gives me the chance to live and go to School in Burlington, but I can always know what my friends from High School are doing through photos, videos, and post. I can also have an instant message conversation with them when they are on the website. Now the one thing that i dont like about media and the internet is the world it opens for people and the way that people get caught in that world. i think many kids now a days get lost in online video games or in video chats with people they don't know. This gives people the chance to take themselves out of the real world and make their own. I just don't think it is healthy for a person to be that anti-social. In my future i see myslef doing advertsing or marketing for a company that I care about the product. Like skiing for example. I would love to do marketing or advertising for companies like Armada, North Face, Rossignol, Oakley, or Full Tilt. I think that I would do the best with marketing these products because they are the things that I buy, and i know what the consumer is looking for. Either way no matter what I end up doing i want to love it and be happy. Here is a video advertisment by Nike 6.0 that would be along the line of what i would want to do.
